Vroom, vroom...
Seems like many of us have gotten run over by life lately. I know things have gotten busy for me since I started working with WOW!. I must admit though, it really isn't work. I love doing the proofing, working with other writers to make thier piece it's best and even the chance to write with them, whether it be on their blog or for the site. And...it keeps my inner editor happy so she doesn't nag when I write my fiction.
But, this leads me to the realization I have to set some priorities. I've been pondering this since returning from the convention not long ago and have decided, undecided, and decided again. Right now, I'm in an undecided phase. I need to make a decision soon and stick with it.
So, my question for y'all... What is your priority? Has life grabbed you and doesn't want to go? Do you feel like you are spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere?
I know for myself, it's time I make some hard decisions and set some priorities, especially with summer coming and all the things that brings.
Now...I'm off to decide again:--)

Well, as all of the SC staff knows, real life has taken me by the neck and shook...HARD. It's been a rough couple of months that involved no writing on my part. I still have no answers to the questions on both girls, and doctor's appointments nearly every week...not to mention the oldest who is not to be neglected and his soccer which runs 3 times a week, minimum. We've had good moments and bad...and my writing has certainly suffered.
But, I've gotten a little bit of a helping hand lately, and that has allowed me to write again. It has become, once again, part of my priorities. Reshuffling happens often in life, for me it's been more often than not lately. But, this time my writing card will be in my deck, when it was put aside before. Without my writing I'm 10X more stressed, and I know that now.

You mean I have to set priorities too? Darn! For the past few months I have felt like I am spinning my wheels because there is just so much going on. So, what did I do? I took on more stuff. LOL!
I've put my fiction writing aside for a little bit as I concentrate on interviewing authors--something I really enjoy. And I even have an interview with the editor of Black Velvet Seductions coming soon.
Other than that, my priorities are to keep my website and blog updated, continue with my Laura Ingalls Wilder and Rose Wilder Lane research, write an article for Writer2Writer once every other month, and dedicate more time to my kids so they don't end up hating my writing career.
I also dedicate two hours a week to the church and a couple hours a month to a local political committee, but nothing else for me right now. Writers need play time too.

Life sure does have a way of sneaking in and overwhelming you.
When my father passed away in February it left me feeling unhinged. I had full days free and I wasting them away. Almost afraid to dig in because surely someone needed my help. I guess that's my old super mom syndrome that hasn't faded yet.
My priority now is to work 5 to 6 hours a day without interruptions. I don't answer the phone or the door. I've told my family and friends that these are the hours I work and you can call me after.
Most are respecting those boundaries so I guess it's working.
Great post Speck and good luck with planning your priorities.

Recently my priorities have changed dramatically. When I started this great writing career, I told myself, that nothing was going to get in my way of becoming a great writer. Then life jumped in and nailed me.
Now I've rearranged my priorities, putting life on top of the list, with my writing following in second.
I wish you all good luck with your priorities and life.
